On 8-9 March 2019, Doctors of the World Sweden will host a seminar on ‘How to work inclusively with lgbtq+ within the framework of human rights’.
The event will see the participation of the participants of the Capacity Building EU Aid Volunteers project coming all the way from Central America and Africa as well as from different Doctors of the World chapters around Europe. The objective of these seminar is to understand how certain topics are dealt with in determined realities and learn from shared best practices.
There is going to be a lot of space open to discuss and learn how NGO workers in Nicaragua, Senegal, Spain, The Netherlands, etc work with lgbtq+ and how to improve what is already taken place.
The first day will see a session on ‘Sexuality, gender and norms’ and ‘Discrimination, norm criticism and the grounds of LGBTQ in the Swedish context and Global context.
The second and last day will see an interesting talk on ‘The difference between sex and gender, and the danger of stereotyped gender norms and roles’, ‘Human Mobility in violence in Central America’ and ‘From risk reduction to the defense of human rights’.
